"Now, I've been kind of an obsessive Ed Wood fan all my life, and a lot of it has to do with the more you hear about his life story, the more interesting the work becomes. He was a boy who was born and grew up in Poughkeepsie, New York, dreaming of Hollywood. He fought in the war. He went to Los Angeles hoping to make movies like the movies that he made when he was growing up—Lugosi horror movies, cheap westerns, that sort of thing. He wanted to make that sort of thing, but the industry was moving on."
